Adina Dumitru, new member of the European Environment Agency's Scientific Committee

Adina Dumitru, professor at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of A Coruña, has recently been appointed member of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency. Researcher at the Research Group on Developmental Psychology and School Learning (GIPDAE), as well as at the Inter-University Research Centre Ecobas and the Chair of Green Algorithms of the UDC, Dumitru was selected through an open process in which 170 professionals from various disciplines related to the Agency’s field of interest participated.

Her mandate will begin on 1 January 2025 and will last for four years, with the possibility of renewal. In addition, she has already been invited to attend the first meeting of the Scientific Committee, which will take place on 25-26 February 2025 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The inclusion of Adina Dumitru in the committee will allow her to address the topic of ‘Just Transitions’, providing her professional perspective on the Agency’s work programmes and other relevant issues.

The European Environment Agency’s Scientific Committee advises the Agency’s Steering Board and Executive Director, and is composed of independent scientists from member countries with expertise in various environmental areas such as resource use, circular economy and waste, health and environment, oceans and sustainable blue economy, biodiversity, climate change and transitions to sustainable development.
