Training
The Chair will deploy an intense training activity at three levels:
Pre-doctoral training
– Micro-credentials leading to a ‘Nano-master in AI and Green Algorithms for Sustainability’. This training is aimed at undergraduate students, graduates, Master’s students, researchers (postDocs), research management staff and professionals.
– Doctoral programmes. Specific sublines or modules related to the sustainability factor and green algorithms will be included in the existing programmes in the field of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the UDC. The prominent presence of this theme in the programmes will allow students to deepen their knowledge of the techniques and tools needed to address these challenges effectively, and thus train the next generation of experts in this growing field. This action will provide the basis for carrying out cutting-edge research in the field of green AI, helping to drive innovation and technological advancement in this field.
Postdoctoral training
– Advanced research and training in Green AI techniques and tools. The Chair supports the recruitment of postdoctoral and predoctoral researchers, who will develop cutting-edge research projects in the field of green AI and green algorithms, supervised by experts from the team.
Longlife professional learning education
– Expert course in ‘Green AI: designing sustainable solutions for the future’. The Chair plans to launch the first edition of this training in the academic year 2025-2026. It is intended both for companies and organisations wishing to reskill or upskill their staff in green AI, and for graduates or researchers in disciplines associated with ICT, engineering and social sciences who wish to develop or specialise professionally in this field.
The Green AI expert course has been designed with a practical approach aiming at acquiring advanced skills and knowledge in specific areas such as green algorithm development, hardware and software optimisation, ethical decision making and the application of green AI in different industrial sectors. In addition, the course will include hands-on practice using data from real projects.
– Series of conferences. The Chair has launched the first edition of its cycle ‘Green Convergence for a sustainable future’. The lectures, given by scientific experts, professionals, business representatives and public sector managers with competences related to the topics of digitisation and sustainability, will provide an overview of the current situation, the existing needs -technological, regulatory, ethical, economic and social- and the proposed solutions from a broad, diverse and multidisciplinary perspective.
