Ignasi Belda's lecture: "Should AI be regulated?"

Last Friday, the INDITEX UDC Chair of AI in Green Algorithms had the pleasure of hosting a lecture by Ignasi Belda, director of AESIA – the Spanish Agency for the Supervision of Artificial Intelligence, at the Faculty of Computer Science of the University of A Coruña.

The speaker analyzed the Artificial Intelligence Regulation 2024/1689/EU and its implications, in whose implementation AESIA plays a crucial role as a supervisory body. The regulation is based on the principles of reliable and secure AI, with solid regulation protecting citizens’ fundamental rights, an area our Chair has been working on since its Research Line 4.

It was a session with intense audience participation, with numerous questions asked about various aspects and application cases of RIA, demonstrating the interest and significance of the regulation not only for its use and exploitation in the economic and social spheres, but also in research.
